Jose Mourinho was sacked as manager of Tottenham on this day in 2021, less than a week before he was due to lead them out for the Carabao Cup final.
Spurs’ Premier League form was what ultimately cost the Portuguese his job, with his last match in charge a 2-2 draw with Everton which left Tottenham seventh, five points off the Champions League places and with just one win from their last five league games.
Mourinho’s dismissal after just 17 months at the helm was announced hours after Tottenham had confirmed they intended to join a breakaway European Super League, plans that were swiftly aborted after fans’ backlash, although that was unrelated to the Portuguese’s axing.

Two AFC North rivals come into Week 3 on the heels of convincing Week 2 losses as the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Steelers come into their first divisional game of the season decimated with multiple injuries to key players, including QB Ben Roethlisberger and star LB T.J. Watt. Pittsburgh’s banged-up defense could be a blessing for Bengals QB Joe Burrow, who has been sacked nine times through weeks. Neither offense impressed last week and the NFL betting odds reflect that, while the Steelers slim 3-point home favorites.
Here are our best free NFL picks and predictions for Bengals vs. Steelers on Sunday, September 26.

As of this writing, the Wild Card Weekend is still sorting itself out. But if books are going to hang NFL Divisional Round odds, we’re going to size them up and see which ones we want to bet now and which ones we’ll wait on – projecting line movement – to bet later.
With just four games on the board, NFL bettors will face the toughest and tightest set of spreads and totals of the entire season. That means that not only do you have to be on the right side, but also get the best of the number. We tell you how, with the Divisional Round edition of Bet Now/Bet Later. Good luck.

The Buffalo Bills will open their postseason run by hosting the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in a first-round playoff battle between AFC East rivals.
The No. 2 seed Bills finished the year with a 13-3 record, far better than No. 7 seed Miami (9-8). However, the two teams split their season series, playing two close games in the regular season.
Miami could struggle to repeat those performances without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa available for Sunday’s game. We’ll break down what that means for this Super Wild Card Weekend matchup in our NFL picks and predictions for Bills vs. Dolphins on January 15.

The Sean Payton era is off to a rough start in Denver, and the latest NFL odds suggest there’s more pain on the way in Week 6 as the Broncos face the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.
Somehow, Denver’s 1-4 record doesn’t do justice to the horror show that’s unfolded in the Mile High City — from the 70-20 humiliation against the Miami Dolphins to the Week 5 blunders in a loss to the New York Jets, just weeks after Payton mocked New York offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.
Now a trip to Arrowhead Stadium looms large and you’d be hard-pressed to find much excitement for taking the Broncos in this week’s NFL picks. The Chiefs have won four in a row without playing their best football and the TNF odds have…
What do New Year’s Eve and NFL favorites have in common in Week 17?
They’re both overrated.
Or at least we hope so, for the sake of my NFL Underdogs picks and predictions.
The NFL odds in the closing weeks of the regular season are tricky waters to navigate. Usually, by this point, the bulk of postseason tickets are spoken for and plenty of teams getting points have more incentive to turn on the tank rather than fight to the finish.
But not so much in 2023… or what’s left of it.
With so many playoff spots still available, many Week 17 odds pups have added pop and look to ring in the New Year with a solid showing.
My New Year’s aspirations are the same.

The “change in scenery” angle is often overvalued in sports, but it worked like a charm with Baker Mayfield last season.
He set career-highs in completion rate, total yards, and touchdowns in his first year with the Buccaneers, and that performance carried into Week 1 of this season.
I’m backing the Bucs in my Week 2 same-game parlay along with some Mayfield-related props, while my conventional three-leg parlay for Sunday is capped off with the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football.
Here are my best NFL picks for Sunday, September 15.

Paul Pogba has finally responded to Graeme Souness’s criticism of the Manchester United midfielder by saying he does not know who the former Liverpool and Scotland captain is.
Souness has long questioned Pogba’s attitude, doing so even during the Frenchman’s injury layoff last month. Yet Pogba claims to be nonplussed by the Sky Sports pundit.

“I didn’t even know who he was, really,” the 27-year-old told the United podcast. “I heard he was a great player and stuff like that. I know the face but [not] the name. Like I said I’m not someone that watches a lot of [punditry], I watch a lot of football but I don’t stay afte…
Look at Wolves go. They are this season’s most unlikely contenders for a top-four finish and could boost their chances on Sunday by winning at home to Leicester. Bruno Lage deserves high praise. So does the manager’s little brother.
Luis Nascimento, at 42 three years younger than his more prominent sibling, was one of the six backroom staff members brought to Molineux after Lage’s appointment in June. Lage had collaborated with each of them before but had never worked directly with his brother, whose career has largely mirrored his own.

Luis Rubiales firmly yelled “I’m not going to resign” in his speech at an extraordinary general assembly of Spain’s football federation (RFEF) last month, banging a fist on the podium to assert his position. But, 17 days later, he announced his resignation from his position as federation president, as well as vice-president of Uefa. The right decision has been made, but Rubiales is leaving the federation in authoritative fashion after announcing his decision to quit in an interview with Piers Morgan, a clip of which has been posted online prior to their full sit-down being aired on Tuesday.
The resignation statement released by Rubiales was nothing less than expected. There was no apology, no mention of Jenni Hermoso, the player who …
