Paul Pogba: ‘I don’t even know who Graeme Souness is’

Paul Pogba has finally responded to Graeme Souness’s criticism of the Manchester United midfielder by saying he does not know who the former Liverpool and Scotland captain is.

Souness has long questioned Pogba’s attitude, doing so even during the Frenchman’s injury layoff last month. Yet Pogba claims to be nonplussed by the Sky Sports pundit.

World Cup 2018 Betting Preview: Golden Boot, Golden Ball & Golden Glove Best Odds

Tip of the hat to Russia.

As much for their team going as far as the quarter final off the back of a seven-match winless streak in the warm-up to the tournament and for hosting what will be remembered as one of the most exciting World Cups in football history.

With four matches remaining and as many teams none of which are pre-tournament’s main favourites Germany and Brazil a few would dare predict the winner at this point. England, Belgium, France and perennial dark horses Croatia have all got equal chances heading into the semi-final.

As far as the individual markets are concerned, this particular niche offers a genuinely better betting prospect in which the things are very much alive and kicking.

Are England good enough to win World Cup 2010?

England will no doubt qualify for next years World Cup in South Africa. Every World Cup year the media and England fans have this blind optimism that is inexplicable. I must admit I buy in to the hype of the England teams ability to win every tournament we compete at. Unfortunately for every England fan since 1966 our optimism has been misplaced.

The question is will next year s World Cup be any different from every other tournament we have competed at in recent years? I don t think it will. Our performances in qualification have been promising but that has happened in previous years, hence the optimism. England look like they could qualify quite comfortably from group six. Croatia and Ukraine have arguably underperformed in the group and both sides have proven little to no thr…

Euro 2020 final: Queen congratulates Southgate on leading England to Wembley showdown

Gareth Southgate and his England squad have the support of Queen Elizabeth and the Royal Family heading into their Euro 2020 final against Italy.

England beat Denmark 2-1 after extra-time on Wednesday to book their place in the final of a major tournament for the first time since 1966, the year they won the World Cup at Wembley.

The national stadium is again the venue for England s second final, with Roberto Mancini s Italy side standing in the way of Southgate s men.

Ahead of the fixture, England s manager received a letter of support from the monarch.

Fifty-five years ago I was fortunate to present the World Cup to Bobby Moore, and saw what it meant to the players, management and support staff to reach and win the final of a major international foot…

Ballon d’Or 2017 Shortlist Analysis: Part 1

The 30-man shortlist for the 2017 Ballon d Or has been announced and the ceremony to announce the winners of this prestigious award will take place in London later this month. In Part 1 of the shortlist analysis we take a look at 15 of the nominees and what they did to justify their inclusion.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund + Gabon)

Not even dodgy orange juice could derail the Dortmund striker’s incredible goal-scoring season. The Gabonese international banged in 31 goals in 32 Bundesliga games last season, finishing as the league’s top scorer, and has already bagged eight in seven games to start off this campaign. Sadly his goal-scoring form couldn’t help Gabon qualify for the World Cup, but at club level Aubameyang is a monster.

Beckham´s Galaxy visit Seattle for MLS 2011 opener

English star midfielder Davis Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy will visit the Seattle Sounders on March 15 in the opening game of the 2011 Major League Soccer season, the US-based league said Monday.

The 16th MLS season will feature a record 18 clubs, with expansion teams in Portland and Vancouver, which becomes the second Canadian squad in MLS after Toronto. A third Canadian club, Montreal, will begin operations in 2012.

The Galaxy eliminated the Sounders from last season s MLS playoffs.

Beckham, who had said he was not planning on playing outside of MLS during the off-season, revealed Sunday that he does intend to play in Europe before MLS teams gather for pre-season workouts, although not at AC Milan, his loan home the past two MLS off-seasons.

On this day in 2021: Spurs sack Jose Mourinho days before Carabao Cup final

Jose Mourinho was sacked as manager of Tottenham on this day in 2021, less than a week before he was due to lead them out for the Carabao Cup final.

Spurs’ Premier League form was what ultimately cost the Portuguese his job, with his last match in charge a 2-2 draw with Everton which left Tottenham seventh, five points off the Champions League places and with just one win from their last five league games.

Mourinho’s dismissal after just 17 months at the helm was announced hours after Tottenham had confirmed they intended to join a breakaway European Super League, plans that were swiftly aborted after fans’ backlash, although that was unrelated to the Portuguese’s axing.

The 58-year-old was denied the chance of delivering the club’s first piece of silve…

Bengals vs Steelers Week 3 Picks and Predictions: Pittsburgh Injuries Give Cincy Value As Road Dog

Two AFC North rivals come into Week 3 on the heels of convincing Week 2 losses as the Cincinnati Bengals travel to Heinz Field to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers come into their first divisional game of the season decimated with multiple injuries to key players, including QB Ben Roethlisberger and star LB T.J. Watt. Pittsburgh’s banged-up defense could be a blessing for Bengals QB Joe Burrow, who has been sacked nine times through weeks. Neither offense impressed last week and the NFL betting odds reflect that, while the Steelers slim 3-point home favorites.

Here are our best free NFL picks and predictions for Bengals vs. Steelers on Sunday, September 26.

Dolphins vs Bills Wild Card Picks and Predictions: Sky is Falling for Fins

The Buffalo Bills will open their postseason run by hosting the Miami Dolphins on Sunday in a first-round playoff battle between AFC East rivals.

The No. 2 seed Bills finished the year with a 13-3 record, far better than No. 7 seed Miami (9-8). However, the two teams split their season series, playing two close games in the regular season.

Miami could struggle to repeat those performances without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa available for Sunday’s game. We’ll break down what that means for this Super Wild Card Weekend matchup in our NFL picks and predictions for Bills vs. Dolphins on January 15.
